I use carbon no matter what year-round in all my filters (except sponges for obvious reasons).

Meh, carbon works well for me so I stick with it, it's a good filtration method IMO but I know many people don't like it. Honestly I'm about 65-70% relying on bio filtration since it's more natural and gets the job done like nature intended, I've actually got a good project planned for the next few weeks on one of my tanks and I'm really excited to try it! Back on topic if you're just using carbon to remove meds then 3 or 4 days should be enough time.

The exact specs are still being drawn up and a friend from my LFC gave me the idea so he knows more about it than I do but basically. Getting some sort of jug filled with sand to attach to the side of the tank with water flowing through it and then getting a mangrove seedling to grow a mangrove tree out of it then evntually the roots would grow into the tank as well, plus the sand and roots in the jug would severely filter the water.
