I was wondering what I would need for a 6ft x 2 ft x 2ft 180 gallon planted tank.

what type of lights I would need for medium light on the tank

how many lbs of substrate I would need for a 2-3in substrate bed

good background plants

please respond as soon as possible, my fish need a bigger tank and I need to know this before I get the tank

This is my 72x30 with (2) 36" and a 48"satellite+ led sand 150# of sand. Sand averages 1" in depth so I'm guessing 200# should get you 2-3" in a 180. Once a month I add root tabs as the only source of ferts. This tank replaced a 125 with same plants and the 48" sat+ but the extra 12" of drpth made me want to add a second row of lighting, I'd start with a 48" and add a second if needed. A single 48" t5ho will probably do the job since light from flourescent spreads better then leds. On my hitech tank I have a buildmyled.com led that is amazing, if you want to spend a bit more I highly recommend this route. This are high quality fixtures. They have 6' fixtures of different, power, spectrum and spread. If their options are confusing simply email them your setup snd they'll recommend which one fits your needs.
