Hey guys,
I'm replacing one of my old ray tanks and just wondering if it's worth about another $500 to go with a 600gal. Right now foot print is 8'x4'x2'. But ordering new so got another price to go 8'x4'x30". A $500 difference between the two. It's a BD ray tank so I know they will mature pretty big, they seem fine in the 24" high tank. What's everybody think?? Thanks, Jim

I would go with the taller.......Especially if you are going to keep some tank mates.

Thanks Trev,
That's what I'm thinking. I have a 450 that is 6x4x30" looks pretty sweet. TYD is the company I'm looking at.

They seem to have pretty good prices... Then add shipping across country and they are about the same price as anyone local lol

Where are all the good used monster tanks??

I'm currently using 480's for my breeder bd's. 4'X8'X2', 5 adults per tank. I would always go bigger. The larger the water volume the more room for error. I would go 30" but can't get them through my basement door.

Anyone ever hear of a 700 gallon 4x8x3' tall made out of only 3/4 thick acrylic?

That's crazy. I wouldn't go with anything less than 1 inch. Maybe 1 1/2.
That's a lot of water!!

Jimr,
Too bad you couldn't go with a 10 ft. tank. I'd do 10 long before 30 high.
