Fluval 405 experts advice!

I just got a Fluval 405 that I was gonna use with a bunch of Purigen for my big tank.

I can't seem to get the pump perfect.

When I tip it over a little it leaks from the motor housing so I can't get a tight seal.

I cant push the gray lever down all the way.

I checked all the basic stuff like seal there, I am thinking something maybe broke inside the grey and black lever assembly creating these issues..

Any help would be much appreciated.

Thanks bro seems like the lever just wont close flush style at all after seeing pics on Youtube it just does not sit flush. I don't want to force it.
