I'm looking for advice on an ideal secondary filter for my pond - I currently have a DIY Trickle W/D filter and have started researching some pressurized filters. Aside from effectiveness...price, ease of maintenance/setup, and size are all important considerations.

I was comparing a few different types:
  • Pressurized filters w UV (Tetra, Laguna, Pondmaster, Sicce, Oase)
    • Sounds like giant canister filters with backwash capabilities
Does pressurized make a significant difference compared to open-air?
  • Bead Filter (Ultima 1000)
    • Pond size rating significantly less than equal priced pond filters
Alot of reviews saying it's one of the best filters out there
  • K1 Moving Bed (Nexus)
    • Really expensive and the concept seems DIYable
      Large
      Hard to find
Thanks in advance!

You pretty much have to hear from someone who has tried them all, or maybe an outfit like Equatic ecosystems might be willing to give you advise based on your current system.

People tend to support what they have. (I.E. - I have an Ultima 2 4000 and its great!)
