i have recently got myself a new filter and want to stock it with good media.

choices seem to be
  1. eheim substratpro
  2. seachem matrix
  3. fluval biomax
  4. aquaclay

all 4 will work for light to moderate bio loads.....
........for HEAVY bio loads, i would go with sintered glass all the way. from your list, eheim substrat pro is sintered glass but it breaks down relatively quick compared to other sintered glass products. now if money is not a consideration, bio home plus (red one) or serra siporax sintered glass media works great.

No idea where you got that from. I've had substrat pro in my canisters I've been using for over 10 years now..

@ OP - I would go with substrat pro or seachem matrix. matrix is substantially cheaper and just as good imo.
