Eheim 2250 vs. Eheim professional 3e

I'm looking into canister filters for my 125. Already decided to have powerful filteration.
I saw the professional 3e, which pumps 1850L/h, but is set for aquariums up to 150 gallons.
Then I noticed the 2250 which pumps 1000L/h, and is set for aquariums up to 220 gallons.

The 3e is much more modern, but is it worth it?
Which one should i get?

2262. 250gph is not a ton of flow. I think my 2217 is rated for 159g tank... and I have 2 on a 57. However the 2262 is basically a 5g bucket with a 900gph pump on top and would be monster filtration for that tank if its your only filtration. Plus eheim classics are amazing filters. Look up reviews and you would be shocked how many eheim classic filters have been in service 10-25 years

As brich999 and Dieselhybrid said you can't beat a 2262. 900 GPH gives you a lot of room to work with for future upgrades in tank size and it also gives you a lot of extra flow to work with for after canister additions like U.V. Sterilizers or Fluidized Bed filters. I also agree with brich999's having 2 canisters on a tank, it makes it so you always have a decent biological base even when cleaning the filters as you just rotate which one your cleaning at a time. So one month you clean one and the next month you clean the other.

How much is the 2262? it isnt available, maybe i can special order it.
The 2250 here in iceland is $350 and the 3e is $700... Judging by these prices, could you estimate how much a 2262 would be here?

The 2250 according to most sites I've visited is discontinued and I was only able to find one for about $500. As for the 3e you never mentioned which model, over here the pricing is about $340 for the 2078, $320 for the 2076 and $300 for the 2074 none of which was rated for 150 gallons the closest was rated for 185 gallons. The 2262 I've seen for sale for $429-$511.

These are prices I found when doing a quick search so I imagine they're average prices.

Classic. No question.

Search this forum for my posts on 2080, which is the original Pro 3. You will find that it sucks due to design flaws creating bypass. No need to spend money only to regret it later.

I would absolutely go for the 2262. It is a very simple, yet very effective filter. I personally think it is the best canister filter on the market. Simple is always better!
