I've started, and almost finished, my plywood build all I have left is a little bit of construction. Mainly just the removable hood and some priming before I begin with the pond liner and glass. I have a 72"x30" viewing window I know I must go with 3/4" glass but which would the veterans of building tanks choose?

Thanks! New question now. Just got to really looking into prices for glass, very pricey at 3/4". So my question is with a 30" high viewing window is .5" glass thick enough? If need be I can narrow the viewing window to 24" to bring cost down. What would you do in this case?

Height determines the thickness of glass needed. Standard 150g is 29" tall and uses 1/2" but keep in mind those are made in a factory to a bit better tolerances than most DIY. To be safe 3/4 is recommended but if done correctly in theory you could do 1/2". I always play it safe with DIY and overbuild but its up to you. Maybe keep the water level a few inches lower to be safe
