Fish at mouth of river or dam

So taking my kids fishing tomorrow on the Clinton river in south eastern Michigan well I used to fish there when younger at both places but I want to know what would be better to fish at a dam or the mouth where the river dumps into lake st clair I wouldn't mind landing some big fish but as long as the kids catch anything I'll be happy, there's perch, bluegill, catfish, pike, bowfin

What's a better spot

Ive always founds dams to be some of the best fishing out there. Plus often times its the most convenient area to stock fish with easy access so that may have something to do with it
