so i always like the way wood looks in a tank, but whenever i put it in my tank it does this within a week… anyone know why? is it because of my aeration? moldy wood.jpg

Perfectly normal, most malaysian and other hardwoods will do this for a few weeks and it clears up on it's own. It's harmless.

I've had the stuff appear on some of my pieces and it didn't clear up no matter what I tried.

It formed on mine even though I boiled it for hours on end prior to putting it in the tank. As ugly as it was it Didn't effect the water in any way.after a few days it went away.

It seemed to be harmless but I don't like the looks of it and I got tired of looking at it so I no longer use the wood in my tank.

Has anyone ever seen wood called ghost wood? I saw it at ace hardware, it's beautiful. Anyone have info on it? Aquarium safe?
