Why can't I use this silicone for my tank?

GE silicone I is safe for use in aquariums. GE silicone II is not, it has mold inhibitors.
Just did some research. It turns out even GE silicone labeled 100 % silicone HAS some mold inhibitors!!!

I think I've read that they include the aquarium bit so they aren't liable in the event that the silicone pops and your house is flooded with hundreds of gallons of water.

About 6 months ago (probably more). I resealed a 150 gallon tank with GE Silicon I. No problems...everyone is happy.:)

Then, pass on GE. Look for 100% silicone sealant (Aqueon is a good brand). I've never understood why anyone would look for cheap alternatives on something that can save him/her from a home-damaging flood and the loss of expensive specimens. If someone can't afford the safest basic necessities of the hobby they should look for another hobby.
