Some longnose are like this as well as cubAn and tropical garsCould it be a rare gator gar cause of the color. And how can you tell it is a gator?

You can tell its an alligator gar because of the thicker snout, body shape, and the pattern. It is not rare to see these guys with the dark coloring, although it is my favorite (besides the gold variants and "snow" variants that are extremely rare and can run around $10,000). They normally grow darker as they get older and grow larger. For most other gar species, if this were there color I would assume they are pretty stressed, besides trops which have a very wide variety of patterns and colors.Some longnose are like this as well as cubAn and tropical gars
