I have a odd combo of fish so they have a vary of diets and the other day I saw my bass eating sweat peas. Why are they doing this the pea was on the bottom of the tank and wasn't moving. Thoughts?

Why do you want some things sometimes instead of others? Simple, your body and mind has a way of telling you what you want for what you are missing in your diet.
For fish, could be that they are experiencing some indigestion and they know that certain types of veggies work. The fish are programmed to do this and they do it in the wild, for this we should all be certain.
