Like the title says, thinking of making a small pond/water feature for the garden, I'm guessing something like a 4'x2.5' so obviously no good for gold fish or koi, the only thought I've had is sticklebacks? Any ideas appreciated

If it's deep enough, any small fish would do, but I'd check out sunbleak (leucaspius delineatus)
but what I'd do is make it a summer-only pond and put fish for warmer regions in it.

It's probably only going to be around 2-3' deep, I can put a cover on in the winter but not sure how much of a difference it would make, I like the idea of more tropical fish but the temperature changes here so much and it's such a small volume of water I'm not sure if they would survive even in the summer :/
