I currently have a 75 gallon community tank that well stocked with. Tetras, Dwarf Gouramis, Platys, Guppies, Cory Catfish etc.
For filtration I have an Eheim 2215 rated at 164 gph which I'm aware is not enough filtration for that tank. I'm shopping for a new filter to add to the tank. What would be a good option? I'm torn between the Aquaclear 70 ($40) and the Aquaclear 110 ($80). Would the Aquaclear 70 be enough? I'm thinking of using the AC70 for mostly Mechanical filtration and the Eheim for mostly Biological filtration since the 70 moves more water. I know this forum is for Monster Fish Keepers (I also own a cichlid tank) but I really need the help. :)

I agree with Tiretrack...110 all the way. Awesome filter.

I run a 110 on my 90g single Dovii tank. At first I thought it was enough, I've been contemplating running a 70 along with it. or maybe even another 110?

Dont bother with the ac70. Go right for the AC110. I ran 2 of them on a 75 for years.

I would go with an ac110. I'm about to order two of them for my 75 gallon.

Sounds like AC110 is the choice. How do you think it compares to a Eheim 2213. Of course it moves more water but I'm wondering if The Eheim 2213 + 2217 would be a good enough alternative. The 2213 is about the same price as the AC110 minus the noise.

My AC110's are quiet except when the lid rattles. Personally I prefer my AC110 over my canister. They just seem easier to clean.

Why does the lid rattle? Is there a way to stop the rattling?
My lid usually starts to rattle a bit when one of the fish run into the intake tube. I'm sure a couple small pieces of electrical tape would stop it. And it's not like it's super loud when it does it anyway. Also, mine didn't seem to do it as much when they are newer. Mine are about 7-8 years old now with zero issues.
