If I buy juvenile cichlids, and I am hoping for a pair eventually, is three enough to have a good chance of getting one pair? I think if I did my math right it is about a 75% chance of getting at least one male and one female... I am ordering some fish online, and buying a bigger group of juveniles hoping to get a pair adds up ($$$) when you are buying multiple species!

I always try getting 5-6 for a better chance.that way you can use the others for spare, if a M/L kills a mate.smaller fish cost less and it won't add to S&H cost.maybe you can talk to the place your ordering to specify but at small size, it's hard for anyone
