Hey guys, I have this bit of wood that simply refuses to sink, its currently floating at the top of my tank; will it simply sink down eventually?

I forget the name of this wood, I usually have driftwood

I had a piece that looked kinda similar float at the top of my 500g for a year and a half and never came close to sinking

I wonder what would happen if I screwed some holes in the bottom, in an attempt to release air...also wonder if anyone has tried hammering iron nails into wood like this; obviously so that's it not visible but hidden. May be the beginning of my very own amateur DIY project lol.

Cheers duderinos

I have a piece of wood I got from a friend who had it submerged for 3-4 years before I got it. I figured after all of that time it would sink - Nope. I had to screw the slate back on. Dimensions are about 40x20x20".

Not to hijack this thread but I have the same problem. How does one attached the slate to the wood? Do u have to drill holes in the slate?

I think I'll just have to take a trip to the LFS tomorrow and look for a bit of driftwood. Seen one yesterday that I wish I'd bought. No worries about hijacking, I too would be interested to know about the slate; as I'd imagine id end up shattering the piece I have.
