I came across a tank that someone could not use anymore. He moved up here from Fla. and has lost interest in his tank. He never set it up.

I have a couple questions. The plastic molding on the tank has some cracks. Is is save to use? see pics.

It also came with a new Marineland stage 3 filter no over flows on the tank. Is it an ok fliter or should I go with a canisters for filters?

Thanks in advance!!!!

The plastic generally offers support to the tank. I would look at finding a replacement trim piece for it. Maybe the guys at The Reef could order it for you.

The plastic on top is among the most important things on your tank in fact its usally what holds the glass and silcone on when the tank in full. that being said i had a 55 gallon with the same problem and using 4 oak boards cut about 5 inches longer on each side screwed them together and had wood glue in the middle. and i ran for over 5 years that way
