I'm setting up a 125 FOWLR tank. Would I really need to buy a wave maker or could I use a aquaclear 70 powerhead, pointed at a diagonal a crossed the tank and a maxi-jet 600 next to it pointing up at the top to make ripples at the top? Or are wave makers mainly for reef?
thank you.

i have 2 maxi-jet 1200 circulating pump parts on it. it comes with the parts needed. i have them in a 55 and has been doing great for over a year now. 2 would be great in a 125

Not just for reef. Check out the Jebao line of wavemakers. 2 wp-25's or wp-40's set on else mode or wave 1 at opposite ends of the tank would do wonders in your 125 :) I use a single wp-60 in my 500 for my cichlids and it alone produces a 2 inch wave at the top of the tank, powerful pumps :)

Wp 60 is way to powerful for his setup. Having extra water movement is good. the jebao wp40 would be perfect. But a couple power heads and good filtration would work as well.
