I just registered as a member here because I'm a little overwhelmed with upgrading from a 10g tank with three freebies that were given to my son a few years ago.. (1) julii cat, (1) dwarf gourami, and (1) neon tetra... So, I'm hoping to find some good advice before going out and spending more money.
Here's what I have now:
10g with the fish above
Aqua Clear filter
No live plants, just a few artificial plants and decorations
To give these fish a real community with proper schooling numbers, this is what I have acquired for the upgrade:
29g ($1/gallon from Petco)
Marineland C-220 Canister filter
Glass lid
I would like to have some live plants, so I've been considering getting Eco-Complete for the substrate. And, I'm not sure about lighting. I like programmable MarineLand LED lighting, but not sure I want to pay the price. And, finally, I'm not sure about cycling... I don't have room to keep both tanks going at the same time because the 29g is going in the same space. So, not sure how I'm going to make the transition just yet.
