Are they part of the Umbee family? And its so cool to see all those different types of cichlids together. I'm really digging those pikes.... so many different types in one area.
i looked it up a bit and they are in a family on their own, but very similar in how they feed etc. but yea its crazy how fish behave in a captive environment vs how they behave in the wild, there is like 0 aggression with all of these fish in the video. really interesting.
Acaronia are their own genus. You will sometimes see them referred to as "true basketmouths" while Caquetaia are called "false basketmouths." They, along with Petenia, are all gape-and-suck predators.
