Lagunas are built well and are fairly efficient. Rios are a little more efficient but a little more cheaply built.

Becket submersible pumps from HOME DEPOT. Use a foam pre filter to protect the impeller shaft or use it to draw dirty water into your filter. They generally last me 4 to 6 years used 24/7. I have two of them in two fish ponds. There is no cost difference on my electric bill. It is very well hidden under the water and I have fountain returns.

Beckett w1800 is 1800gph using 196 watts

Rio Hf32 is 1920gph using 115 watts

Laguna Max Flo is 2000 gph using 100 watts.

All at the $130-140 price point.

correction the new series Laguna Max flow 2400 only uses 84w. It's probably the most energy efficient pump in the market.
