Anyone have either of the above mentioned plecos ? If so which would be good for algea I know I would have also feed them but wanted a pleco that would kind of keep algea off of drift wood.

Pics would be cool too

Don't have either but Starlights are in my top few BN strains. I'd love to get one, there's even 1" one at my favorite LFS but it's $40. I'd love to breed them someday as well. I'd go for Starlight if you can afford it.

IMO best pleco's for algae are BN or albino BN. Common pleco's do well too because they are just so hungry all the time. All pleco's are poo factories just an FYI. Otherwise with just a common pleco and twice a month feeding with veggies I don't clean anything in my tank and I have tons of fake plants.

To the best of my knowledge Gold Nuggets won't touch algae(At least the one I had never did).

I've had a L18 gold nugget for a couple of years now an it does a great job clean algae off the tank, wood an rocks. Never thought he did anything like that cause I hardly ever saw him on the side of the tank. Until I move him from my 55 to 125 gallon. Couple weeks after I moved him the 55 was covered in algea.

I'm pretty sure gold nuggets and the phantoms are meat eaters. BN are vegetarians.
