I have used one in the past but it isn't really a filter. It is a water polisher and isn't meant to be ran constant on a tank.

Yeah I was trying to just clear it up a bit. And I like the fact that they clear out things like ich and certain other parasites.

It will never clear ich from a tank. it will only clear what is in the water column, so whatever is on the fish or in the substrate will remain. You would be better off doing a salt treatment and raising the temp to rid the tank of ich.

Yeah I know this. I dont currently have ich. But I want more polished water and if by chance ich breaks out it can be filtered for free floating with this as u raise the temps

I have one and use it once a year and so and really clean the substrate. Also comes in handy when switching substrate. My parents had it in their garage from our tanks we had in the 70s and 80s not sure I'd go out and buy one when it dies.

Think ill just try different media in the canisters. Ordered some 100 micron felt to try and get tinier particles.
