So I have had goldfish my whole life and had a beautiful 6 year old comet goldfish that had become pretty large. By himself in a 55 gallon tank. About a month ago he died and I was very upset. I let the tank run for the rest of the month with nothing but my plants. On Monday, I was at a pet store with a friend of mine and I ended up buying a redtail catfish. I have never had catfish but the guy at the store said they are pretty easy. I wanted just a single fish and this guy was very fun to watch. The guy at the store said all he needed was warm water like 76. And Sold me some food for him too.
After bringing him home and setting up the tank for him, I did some research and he is going to GET HUGE!! lol He is a super cool fish and I want to keep him. I have a lot of room to go to a bigger tank. That's where I need help!! What size should I get and what kinda set up is good for a red tail catfish? What kind of diet is best for him? At any point can I give him a friend? or will he just eat him? What plants are best?
