Blood parrot tank mate

Doing a fish-in cycle, need something to help the ammonia production besides 1 juvenile blood parrot. He's alone in a 40 gal. I was thinking of a tank mate (preferably bottom feeder, catfish) with a low profile, and sort of cleans up after him, without increasing competition for his food (BP are terrible at eating.) No plecos. I'm willing to buy fish online too, I guess

Raphaels are armoured and squeak at you if you take them out (not recommended). If you don't care about seeing it much, banjo cats might work too. If you have some wood in there, Farlowella would be neat.

Synodontis might do okay, but they can be jerks and will harass other fish sometimes.
