I was out fishing and caught a bunch of channel cats and one flathead. I was using eels and baby channel cats for bait that I was catching left and right. I was thinking of keeping the flathead and letting it grow but I don't know. I have several brown and black bullheads in my 5000 gallon pond, along with warmouths, bluegill, white perch, koi from 6-30 inches and sunfish.

By the way, the flathead is just in this little holding pool until i figure out what I am going to do with it. I know it would end up eating some of the goldfish, perch, etc, whatever could it in it's mouth. I am thinking of finishing my indoor pond that I started and putting it in there.

In this video, you can see the bullheads and channels coming up and feeding on the pellets and koi food.

Thanks. Yeah...It was around 11x17 last year and I dug it out so now it's about 25x19. I want it even bigger so I am thinking next year this time it will be 40x30....oops, my wife just pinched me and I woke up...so maybe just keep it this size and go back to finishing my indoor pond. :)

Yup. I think I will. I am going fishing this weekend in near DC/VA and the area I am going people are catching flatheads and blue cats left and right from 10-60+ lbs. I wish I had my indoor pond already done for a nice sized one. If I put one in my pond and they ate the koi my wife would kill me. I guess it's time to set up the above ground pool again in the basement for now and keep a few in there!

Sounds great! I wanna put a catfish (silurus glanis) in my pond but that would eat my koi, too. Haha :D

I just put up one of my above ground pools in my basement about an hour ago....so I'll be good for now if I get some nice sized ones!
