Hello everyone!

I have a chance for getting this beauty and need confirmation - is it real armatus or is it scomb?

my armatus has larger tail and red dorsal
The only Payara that I know that has a red dorsal(and tail) is Hydrolycus tatauaia. They're know specifically for their red tail which is a unique trait among Payara. Just check the Payara ID thread or post a pic of your Payara as it sounds as though you may have a Tatauia instead of an Armatus but can't say for certain without pics.

Over there
Red tail tats and armatus look extremely similar when young. Once the tail and adipose fun start getting color that's when you can easily tell. The armatus' will have a dark red/orange adipose fin and be a different color than the tail. A tat's will match the same color as the tail
