Sumps are the way to go so much easier to clean and far more effective and customizable

But if it's a grow out tank like he stated then I would go with 2 canister filters one at each end

I only say this as a 125 won't last that long as a grow out so why bother setting up a sump he can do a sump on his bigger tank 350 gal +

Get the model 4 aqueon pro flex sump or Eheim classic 2262 . i think it's a great design for the sump but if you want pressurize flow rate with with a spray bar than canister is the way to go.

Problem is branded sumps cost 10 x more than if you get a tank maker to make it

To be fair I feel branded sumps are a waste of money

I make my own sumps with old-cheap-small tanks, never costs me that much in materials. $20 for an old tank, $10 for some acrylic sheets, $4 for some silicone, maybe $0 if you already have these things. Then you only need to buy the other pieces.

This is one of the sumps I just finished for my 75g. I forgot to mention earlier the Sterilite box cut to fit, $8 and plastic light diffuser too help create the bio-ball holding, $3? Total spent about $70? I saved hundreds making it myself. uploadfromtaptalk1409104673439.jpguploadfromtaptalk1409104693234.jpg
