Hey all, i just wanted to share some updated photos of my Gar. When i first got him fins were split and the fish just looked overall poor. I think he has accumulated quite nicely and is looking good. Open to idea on additions to the tank as far as plants go. Thanks as always!20140823_225454.jpg20140823_225446.jpg20140823_225418.jpg20140823_225412.jpg20140823_225345.jpg

Khap, i am not sure if i am going to go with another gar or maybe get a Bowfin to pair him with. I have had a hell of a hard time finding one. However ill give it a few more months to try and find one before i make my choice. KNH are there any good specialty fish stores down there. The pickings are slim up here. I am going to try and make it down the the horseshoe for the first time ever this year. If there is anything decent to check out i might just have to stay an extra day.

Jacks stocks Florida gar on a regular basis. Aquarium Adventure has the best selection but prices are high.

Nice bannana plant. maybe one or two more of those, seems the gar like top cover.

Also maybe a pothos out the top with the roots in the water.
I've got one in every tank in the HOB's the gar tank has one tied across the tank support in the middle along with the floating pond plants.

Pothos are proven nitrate eaters and the roots will provide more top cover.

Tank looks sharp.

Thanks Rich, I i think i am going to leave the lily as the single one in the tank. It just started taking off again since i moved it from a 20gl. i get a new leaf on the top 2-3 times a week. I think if i had another one in there it would take over the tank. Ill have to look into getting some pothos in there. I thought about getting some drift wood that looks root like and having them tied to the top of the tank, so it looks like they are going down into the water. I am unsure as to what i would plant on them however. Perhaps just more java moss. I have a sword in there as well probably hard to see with all the grass. I have managed to get three plants from it. I need an HO lighting system as i am about 54 watts shy of where i need to be. You tanks look sharp as well Rich. I check them out in your post.
