Hey does anyone use a k1 moving bed filter for saltwater? Im slowly setting it up for my 150 gallon tank. I have the k1 in there and just looking to see how others have it set up.

Thanks

The reason people usually don't use k1 for saltwater is nitrate reduction is more important, and k1 doesn't have deep pores. This is why people go live rock, or artificial stuff with deep pores like pond matrix so you can grow denitrifying bacteria.

Many large salt water breeding setups and what that i have seen use k1 media type setups. Many of r he salt water forums that i read talked great about them.

Hey thanks for the replies after I finish modding the baffles to hold k1 between the baffles I will have live rock rubble held up by egg crate. So basically the flow of water---- Sock-Skimmer-Live Rock-K1-Live Rock- and than back to the tank. Pretty much going all out with the filtration method since it will be a FOWLR so there will be more waste in the water.
