At my LFS I seen this most curious looking Caquetaia myersi in their display tank. Upon closer inspection this little guy had red stripes. Having owned smaller myersi I have noticed a wide range of patterns and colors ranging from yellow with mottled pattern to solid stripes with brown colorations but I have never seen one quite like this. I tried buying him but was shut down lol. If this some mutation or juvenile coloration ?

It looks like he's been dyed/painted/injected like glass tetras. I guess it's possible he's some kind of rare mutation that sports red stripes, but it doesn't look like it's naturally-occurring to me.

That's what I thought but I actually have a brother or sister from the same batch and he is a golden yellow now. Upon closer inspection there are variations between the stripes and the furthest stripes are almost black-red. From my opinion and experience it is somehow 100% natural.

Seen these in person as well. They are not died, I think it is just part of juvenile coloration. May change when larger.
