Don't know if this is the correct location for this thread, but I have a question maybe you fine folks can help me with.

I am making a land purchase soon for 20 acres, and I'd like to set aside about 3 for a large, saltwater pond.

-I would prefer to make the pond as natural as possible, and seal it with clay like a freshwater pond. Should I worry about salt leaking down to the groundwater, or would the clay be sufficient to stop the salt from leaking too?

I live in Zone 8, which means we get light freezing in winter. The species I've selected for the pond (including algae, fish, etc) can all handle salinity and temperature changes, including freezing and salinity drops from rain. Most of them are local euryhaline species that don't migrate in the winter time.
