It's got blotches of black in its stomach area and near its tail. Yeah it's far from a chromide but got some similarities to a damba i guess?

The Paretropline genus (aka Damba) are classified from vulnerable to threatened to endangered and originally from Madagascar. The body type and colors of the fish in your pic isn't consistent with members of the Paretroplus family.
The only Asian Cichlids potentially available in the US are Etroplines (aka chromides): Etroplus canarensis, Etroplus maculatus and Etroplus suratensis.
I'm not sure where you're located...
There is one other Asian cichlid, Iranocichla hormuzensis, which is critically endangered, and has not been available in the US for a really long time. This fish is definitely not Iranocichla hormuzensis.
None of the above fish should be available for $4 at 4.5 inches. Also remember, when a cichlid is stressed, ill or not in a proper environment they can show coloration that's inconsistent.
