Help dead pleco!!

So I moved my 15 fronts and 1 pleco over to my 220 the tank has a overflow today I found my pleco in my overflow ontop of the pre filter sponges dead! I picked it up and half the skin on his back was missing and his stomach had 3 holes in it well I flushed it not thinking to show a pic here it wasn't in the overflow as of last night (I check as I'm scared to lose fish) my brother n law has me scared it is some type of parasite that ate out his stomach it could very well have died due to starvation since it's a new tank I've never lost a pleco though so I don't know

Is there a parasite that eats from the inside out?
