My banana plant has been developing a clear cottony fungus around the roots. I remove it when I see it but it usually comes back in a few days. Any idea how to get rid of it?

I suspect the tubers are rotting, if the plant has roots though then it will be fine as the tubers are not necessary.
Thanks for your help guys. The plant ended up getting so rotten and brown I got rid of it and replaced it. Now I know what to do in case this happens again. Thanks again
