Hey guys I'm new here and am building a setup (temporary till he out grows it) for my giant snakehead, it is a 90 gallon tank and I will be using the HMF across one side of the tank with an eheim pump and a small home made canister (to put some form of chemical filtration in) behind it. The canister will be down stream of the pump via a 3/4 line.Could use all the help I can get.
Here's what I'm thinking so far:
Eheim 1262 water pump
2in PVC pipe 4" long for media
And 3" poret foam 20 ppi (22"x17")
Now what would you recommend I put in the PVC? Any other recommendations? Thanks
Trying to upload a pic so it all makes sense.

It really depends on what you are trying to accomplish with the chemical media.
Are you trying to increase buffering capacity? For example
I use DIY fluidized beds to stabilize alkalinity by using aragonite sand as combination bio media and buffer in open top, clear, PVC reactors for certain tanks.

this one is about 4ft high and 8" in diameter

or in some tanks and ponds, lava rock is used as biomedia, and to aid in the fractionation of dissolved organic carbon, and in ponds, free floating algae
