I currently have a pair that has laid eggs twice together but had different partners previous.
The eggs are all mostly brown except for a few white ones, but gradually more turn white and the parents rarely or slowly pick off the white ones. I eventually picked off the white ones after a day on the second spawn but they all kept turning white so I removed the slate into a jar with meth blue and an air stone. Eggs are still turning white, my question is, do you think the eggs were infected prior to the meth blue and relocating the slate because they had been around the infected eggs for so long or what could be the problem? I have also had a pair of firemouths do this 3 times, so I am confused as to why they look fertile but eventually turn white and die.
