I'm looking for some suggestions for a good species of Crayfish for a 5.5 Gallon (16"x8"x10"). It has to be native and even more specifically something I can find in my local creeks. I live in SouthWest PA in the Ohio River Watershed. Any ideas?

A regular cray IMO needs larger than a 5.5g. But regardless, some states are pretty darn picky about allowing local wildlife to be collected.

Can take as many crays as you want out of PA waters. I know all my local laws wells since I collect natives for my tanks very often. I'd upgrade it when it got to big I just meant to start it out. I think I'll just see what's in my creek.

I have 2 good size crays in with my bullhead, species I couldn't tell ya I tried looking them up, all the info I found just said "native crayfish". dark brown in color, both about 3.5" long. good bottom cleaners when they are out from under their rocks. just snag whatevers in the creek man I think we only have one major species here anyhow...I've never seen any crays that look much different.

I know you love natives dude but I saw the coolest crays the other day at elmers in monroeville, they are called mexican dwarf crayfish, probably at best 1/2 to 3/4" long, bright orange, and awesome haha. those would fit in a 5.5 for life lol.
