I've read where it says to keep 3 Females to one male. Then I have read 3 males to one female.
I have 3 females 1 male. ( I bought all the shop had)
The shop held them until I had the tank ready and cycled just brought them home Thursday.

I bought these for the sole purpose of breeding them, they will be the only 4 fish in the tank.
This will be my 1st egg layer that I have ever attempted fish wise.

Tank is planted around the edges and back with the front center/middle open.
Black sand substrate.
low light.
tank is 36 long 12 wide 21? high ( 30 gal.)
temp is 76 F right now ( room temp no heater running yet)
Hardness ( total hardness as CaCO3) 7 grains per gallon & 120 ppm
PH 7.0 ( medical grade test strips)

other then a big water change, raising & the temp. Anything else I need to know to get them kick started in a month or so when they are settled in?

Thanks
Rich

No it sounds good except 2 females per male is ideal. They will still breed with your ratio though so it shouldn't be a problem. I've had them breed before in my 75 but it was densely planted and I rarely seen the fish, the water was around a 6.5 pH. Best of luck
