I have some doubts how to setup drip system in aquarium with sump. I'm planing to use sump, but my doubt are, where and how to make water drain from sump.

If I use a system like this, and drill a hole in sump in a water return compartment, then after power loss, the water from main tank will drain, and after the power comes back, the return pump will be short of water.
How would you set up a system like this?
