Has anyone designed an internal set up with overhangs for their fish to shelter under?

Allow me to explain this better, in my current tanks I have ornaments, but all of them just sit on the sand; I'd much prefer to have on the tank sides, some sort of ledge jutting out into the tank for fish to hide under.

Has anyone got a set up like this, and if so, pics and how you did it?

That looks epic Gill, although I'd probably get impatient if the wood started coming undone etc. Wedging is a good idea

Floating turtle dock that the knife sits under until it's dark. He's in with 4 turtles and a algae eater.

Wonder if you could get one of those fake plastic wood corner shelves or whatever they have for those snap together reptile systems and such, silicone it on a corner and add a small amount of substrate and small plant on it?
Could look really cool...
