I had this aquarium laying around for quite a time due to it not having a stand. Please let me know what you all think. Should I add A middle brace support to the stand? Or would this hold? I also fixed the bracing on the aquarium so that it wouldn't bow out when filled with water.I decided to paint the back of the aquarium while I was at it.2014-10-04 19.32.13.jpg2014-10-04 19.32.19.jpg2014-10-04 19.32.28.jpg2014-10-04 19.32.41.jpg2014-10-04 19.32.53.jpg2014-10-04 19.33.03.jpg2014-10-06 00.53.00.jpg2014-10-06 00.53.06.jpg2014-10-06 00.53.14.jpg2014-10-06 00.53.24.jpg2014-10-06 00.53.30.jpg2014-10-06 00.53.38.jpg

Thank you, and yes I believe its 46 gallons, not sure how to measure the gallons on a bow front. I have a 72 gallon bow front, and since this one is smaller i assumed it was around 50 gallons. Thank you again

Come on folks Im open to constructive feed back, let me know what you all think :D

Looks great! I wouldn't worry at all about support I have 135 gal 3'x2' sitting on something with the same support and design as yours less the bow front.

If I had to be picky I would add a 2x4 block attached to the front 2x4 right under the center of the bow section in case it gets flimsy over time

What did you use for a brace up top on the tank?

I cut a wide piece of pexi glass (not sure if its called that) and used some epoxy to glue it to the aquarium, my center brace was cracked, but not completely broken, so I used it to simply reinforce it.

Only two things I would have done different is the choice of material on the top and the already mentioned lack of support under the bow part of the tank. That osb will fall apart if it gets wet too many times. I have the same tank sitting empty because of a broken top brace. I am planning on a piece of lexan with plastic bolts to hold it. Overall nice work, let's see it filled up!

I used that type of material on top simply because all this wood was free, I had a full can of Thomson's water proofing liquid in my storage. I should of checked before filling up the thank with water. Im still debating on emptying out the aquarium and adding the Thomson's liquid to the wood. The only reason why I haven't done so is because I decided to do a water change on my other bowfront and transfer that water to this aquarium, I also used to filters that were on my other aquarium so that it could cycle faster. That's the reason why I haven't emptied out the water. Ill be posting pictures soon, btw, the bow front part of the aquarium is not sticking out, the stand my of given you that impression, but its actually just the lip of the top wood sticking out making it more like a bow front stand. The aquarium itself is completely on the stand.

Ah, I thought the wood exact matched the tank, so structurally I would be comfortable. You will just have to keep an eye on the osb and try to keep water of it and hope for the best. Commercial stands use partical board which has the same issue, just have to keep them dry.
