I got it in January 13 at about 3". It was pretty rough going for the first 6 months due to parasites that almost did it in. Aftet that was finally cured he grew pretty good and is now 22". Sadly it is starting to get dropeye in the left eye. Not real severe but there none the less. His new tank will be ready for him to go in by mid November. 72x60x30 glass and plywood bottom.

Great looking Lei. I can't wait until mine gets some more size to it. How is its temperament?

I have never read about either Aussie aro having drop eye either. Jars are fairly common here, but Lei seem to be rare. Since you have seen several Lei, what is your experience with aggression compared to Jar?

If you think it is getting drop eye i you can try covering all the sides of the aquarium for a month or two. I was reading up on silvers one day and found some people talking about how silvers come from murky water so the eyes aren't constantly look all over the place and are mostly looking up. They decided to try to help drop eye by either covering up the sides of the aquarium so that the fish is not focusing on all the things outside, or they put the fish in murky water so that it can only focus on stuff that is above when at the surface. Supposedly this cured mild cases of drop eye.

Drop eye is from fat build up. I don't believe forcing them to look a certain direction does anything. They will still be looking at tankmates etc if sides are covered. There won't be much to grab their attention up above. Theory no good.
