Jay's planted 180g tank

Well I never consider my tank a monster tank but I do enjoy many of threads I've browsed over the years and just decided to register. I'll introduce my tank but it's taken me years to get here with the support of many in our local plant club and other hobbyist on the web.

Well here is an old photo when it was doing well not but there were still things as the plants matured that became a problem.

Tank = standard 180g 72x24x24
Lights = four 80w T5H0 staggered to cover end to end (7hrs)
Co2 = pressurized Co2 injection with inline Atomizer on a ph controller
Fauna = Columbian Tetras, Cory Sterbai, Otos, Apistos, BN Long fin plecos
Other = Fluval 404, sump, inline heater
Flora =
Alternanthera reineckii
Anubias nana
Anubias nana petite
Blxya japonica
Bolbitis heudelotii
Bolbitis heudelotii mini
Cryptocoryne parva
Cryptocoryne spiralis
Cryptocoryne wendtii green gecko

I don't put much effort into aquascaping rules just what appeals to my eye and sometimes that gets me into trouble. Never to leave well enough alone the tank is a mess again because I fill one void with what I have and create another.



Many of the plants are over grown so I really need to thin things out.

Thank you. The work can be as difficult or easy as anyone makes it. By difficult I mean requires more maintenance because I have faster growing plants or modifying water chemistry to keep particular fish, those type of things add to the challenge.

I attempted that with Discus and work was worth the reward of keeping these beautiful fish but when we moved the water chemistry changed and sadly I lost all my Discus.

Sweet... low tech works too...

Still working on the look of the tank having trouble with my choices of background plants. The front half I'm pretty happy with it's that whole back area that's driving me crazy. I'll keep at it see if something sticks.

A short video update using my phone, better than still pics and you can get a better idea of what I'm attempting to do =). I still have a few background plants to short to see but they showing nice signs of growth and should fill in the space I need in a couple of months.

Let me know better or worst and why?
