Hey guys , i have an arapaima about 1 foot long in a 6ft x 4ft tank. Just a month ago white spots have been appearing on its tail .
I already spend a lot of money in building a huge pond for this monster and the pond will be finished around early next year .
I really hope someone can help me cure the spots on my gigas . Thanks

sounds like a simple case of ick, it could be caused by 3 things
1). its getting bullied by tank mates leading to stress
2). water quality is poor leading to stress
3). you fed live food or some sort of food/intrdocued infected fish which lead to it.

I have beat ick with heat alone. I personally dont like to dosage meds unless its truly needed. Bump up the heat and some salt or melafix will do the trick within a week usually.

i dont have any devices to catch pictures but what i can say that the spots are about 0.5 cm big and there are 3 spots at each side of the tail

My arapaima is alone in the tank so i think most probably its water quality or live food like what u said .
Is the salt u said available in fish store ? and what's melafix
