Canada eh!
Started this project a few weeks ago. It's slowly moving along.

I started with this empty area next to the staircase.

Removed the drywalls and did some electrical work.

Installing the vapor barrier. To help lower the humidity in the rest of the house. (a dehumidifier will run 24/7 in this room)

New walls are taking form.

Drywalls are up. I used drywall that is resistant to humidity.

This is the outside of the room with the new wall completed and the door installed.

This weekend we built a box around the ventilation docks and did the drywall for that. We also installed 4 new ceiling lights with switches)

Next step is plastering and painting. Then I'll have to install the suspended ceiling.

After that I will finally be able to start building the pond in there. :)

More pics to come!

Looks good. Should be a nice room when it is finished.

I would mention however, that you probably should have used treated boards for your base plates and had a moisture barrier in between them. You could run into some issues down the road. If I'm wrong and you did use them, then my mistake. From the photos, they look like standard lumber.

I didn't think of that. But I think it will be fine. The humidity shouldnt get over 45% in the basement and in the room since I'm running a dehumidifier.

It should be OK, but the worry comes from the concrete pulling moisture from the outside. This is common in all basements and concrete slab installations.

I checked the code and it's not required where I live. :/
