Putting your HOB's on the sides.

So what do you think of putting my two emperor 400 on the sides of my 90 gallon then on the back? I think that the circulation would be improved with less dead zones

I'd do it if i didn't have a canopy. Getting glass lids cut to allow it would be pretty cheap too.

Hello; I have done that with a HOB. Can not say it made much difference in total circulation. The big issue was arranging a cover and light as militant potato said.

A decade or so ago I did set up a 20 gallon long tank with the goal of having a good flow to the HOB intake. It involved a tiered substrate,a tunnel and a modification to the HOB outflow. Worked fairly well.
