A New Awesome Beast

Thanks to the animal guy for an awesome hookup I now have an awesome beefcake of a cichlid lol. What a nice fish. Pics were taken moments after he went into the tank. If he brightens up more I will take more pics tomorrow he is already glass banging and flaring at me even after the hour or more long drive

Thanks guys. I'm sure he has to be a hybrid but he screams Midas to me he has the thick lips and the stocky wide body he greeted me this morning with a giant splash when I lifted up the lid. It seems like he hates me lol he flares up so much it's insane

Today he is a way brighter red near the face. I have never really kept midas or midas hybrids long term in the past so my knowledge on them is limited. I do know that some do fade but I was wondering if at the size he is now he still has potential to fade into some other color.he is already couple inches bigger Than the palm of my hand . His width across his face/nose is an easy 1.5-2inch!!

Yeah....I'm leaning towards the idea that he is more of a midas than anything else. But I know without any documentation of lineage or genetics etc that the most responsible thing to do is call him a hybrid.
