Is a 260 large enough for a motoro? I've never kept a ray before and I read that these are one of the more hardy rays. Tank mates would be a silver arowana, a TSN and a florida gar if they would work ok with the ray.

What's the foot print on your 260? 7x2. You could keep a ray for a long time in a tank that size but need to upgrade. Males stay smaller I would recommend one or two of those.. The tsn is not a great mix though

The footprint is 84x30, how long would I be able to house one before having to upgrade? I didn't realise the TSN would be a problem, would rather keep the ray than the shovelnose though.

Good stuff, I am trying to decide between two FX5s and another 2000lph cannister I already have or just setting up a sump. The only problem with a sump is that I ordered the tank and didn't ask for it to be drilled or for any weirs to be added and I wouldn't be confident enough to drill the tank myself.. Sump would probably work out cheaper though!

Oh yah that size will be great for a long time to life for males. Sump will be best to needed honestly.

Looks like i'll be setting up a sump then! Would two males work together or would there be fighting? Stock now will be a silver arowana, one or two spotted gar and two motoros if two males will work.

Two males are just fine.
